When teeth are missing, considerable bone loss can result. There may not be enough height of bone to place implants in the maxilla (or upper arch).
To gain enough height for implants, a bone graft can be placed into the sinus. This graft will increase the depth of bone available in the upper arch to accommodate the placement of implants.
New crowns can then be placed onto the implants, restoring function and esthetics. Without this procedure, a fixed bridge could not be fabricated.
